Pedro Pascal (often pronounced [xo?se ?peð?o ?alma?seða pas?kal] in Spanish; born April 2, 1975) is a widely recognized actor with dual Chilean-American citizenship. After spending almost two decades in small roles in both theater and TV, Pascal achieved his breakout role as the character Oberyn Martell in the season four of the HBO fantasy show *Game of Thrones* (in 2014). He became even more prominent through his portrayal of Javier Peña in the Netflix crime series Narcos (2015–2017). He later appeared in the films *The Great Wall* (in 2016), *Kingsman: The Golden Circle* (2017), *The Equalizer 2* (in 2018), and *Triple Frontier* (2019).
His starring roles as Din Djarin in the Disney+ sci-fi series *The Mandalorian* (2019–present) and Joel in the HBO post-apocalyptic series *The Last of Us* (2023–present) brought him international fame, solidifying his reputation for portraying adoptive father figures. In *The Last of Us*, he earned many awards, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe nomination. He continued playing fatherly roles in the films *We Can Be Heroes* (from 2020), *Strange Way of Life* (released in 2023), and as Fink the fox in *The Wild Robot* (scheduled for 2024). Pascal also took roles in major films such as *Wonder Woman 1984* (2020) and *Gladiator II* (2024).
Active in theatre since 1999, he made his Broadway debut as Edmund in a 2019 production of *King Lear*. Pascal was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world in the year 2023.
