Meaning of Ek Onkar: The phrase "Ek Onkar" can be broken down into two words: "Ek" means "One" or "Single". "Onkar" means "Creator" or "God". Together, they convey that there is only one Supreme Being who is the creator, sustainer, and ruler of the universe. Sikhism teaches that God is formless (Nirankar), eternal, and transcendent, yet immanent in all creation.
